Fagan Wins Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling as Titans Place Third

Two Titans claim top-10 individual finishes

NORMAL, Ill. - A gusty day at Ironwood Golf Course saw sophomore Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) finish atop the 120-player leaderboard at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling Sunday, April 12. Fagan led the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team to a third-place finish as the Titans shot the lowest round of the day (306) to post a two-day total of 615 at the par-72, 5823-yard course.

Fagan is the first Titan to win the tournament since Macy Ludwig did so in 2024, while she is the seventh overall joining Katie Klosterman (2014), Rylie Loux (2018), Jordan Koehler (2019), Lexi Onsrud (2022), and Macy Ludwig (2023 & 2024).

One day removed from her career-low four-under 68, Fagan used a birdie on the 14th hole to win the tiebreaker (score on last six holes) over UW-Stout's Julia Imai as the two went nearly shot-for-shot over the final nine holes.

Junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) earned a top-10 finish, tying for seventh-place following an impressive second round two-over 74.

No. 6 WashU won the team title with a two-day score of 607. UW-Stout bested IWU by one stroke to take runner-up honors with a 36-hole total of 614, while the Titans took third with a 615.

The Titans return to action next weekend Friday-Saturday, April 17-18, at the UW-Whitewater Invite in Janesville, Wis. action is set for 1 p.m. Friday from Riverside Golf Course.
