Fagan Paces Titans on Day One of Home Tournament

Titans tied for fourth with 18 holes to go

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 21 Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team used a strong back-nine to climb the leaderboard into a tie for fourth at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling Saturday, April 11, at Ironwood Golf Course. The Titans carded a 21-over 309 on the par-72, 5823-yard course.

Sophomore Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) became the sixth Titan to card a sub-70 round and the second this spring with an opening round personal-best four-under 68. Using six birdies, Fagan sits atop the player leaderboard with a three-stroke lead following the personal-best. 

Junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) holds a share of 18th with a 18-hole score of five-over 77. 

No. 6 WashU leads the standings with an eight-over 296. No. 16 Carleton is in second-place with a 16-over 304 while UW-Stout is in third-place with a 19-over 307. Aurora and IWU share fourth-place with matching 21-over, 309s. 

The Titans look to climb the team leaderboard Sunday, April 12 at Ironwood Golf Course in the final round beginning at 9 a.m.
