McHugh Named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week

Earns honor for third time in career

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse junior Timothy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday, March 10.

It marks McHugh's third career weekly accolade, as he earned the honor twice last season (March 25 and April 1). It is the second weekly honor for the Titans this year, as he joins his brother, senior Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel), who was named the conference defensive player of the week, Feb. 17. 

Timothy McHugh led the Illinois Wesleyan offense to a 2-0 week. Over two games, he recorded eight points, an average of four per game, on three goals  and five assists. The junior also scooped up 10 ground balls, an average of five per game, with four caused turnovers. 

Opening the week with a 15-3 win over Benedictine University Thursday, March 5, Timothy McHugh finished with one goal and four assists for a total of five points, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers. He followed with two goals and an assist for three points, five ground balls, and a caused turnover in a 14-7 victory over Lake Forest College Saturday, March 7.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday, March 11, as it hosts Baldwin Wallace University. Action is set to begin at 7 p.m. inside Tucci Stadium.
