Men’s Tennis Falls to Olivet Nazarene & Greenville

IWU returns to the court Saturday, March 7 against Ripon

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team fell to Olivet Nazarene University, 6-1, and Greenville University, 5-2, Saturday, Feb. 28. IWU drops to 5-2 on the season.

Against ONU (1-3), with four of the six singles matches going to a third set tiebreak, junior Thad Dillow (Effingham, Ill.-Effingham) picked up a tight three-set win over Martin Melnizky, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-8. The Green and White was not able to snag any other tiebreakers, ultimately falling in the opening match of the day, 6-1.

In the second match of the day, this time against Greenville (3-4), IWU picked up wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Senior Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) defeated Jean Sanabria 4-3 (def.) to get the Titans on the board. Dillow picked up his second win of the day, defeating Jade Dynamic 6-7 (5), 6-1, 14-12.

Illinois Wesleyan is back in action Saturday, March 7. Continuing their stretch of home contests, the Titans host Ripon College at Evergreen Racquet Club. First serve is slated for 4:30 p.m.
