Men’s Hoops 12th in Newest D3hoops Rankings

Titans move up one spot

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - A week that saw the Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team claim the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season Championship, boosted the Titans to 12th in the D3hoops.com Top-25 released Monday evening, Feb. 23.

In a poll that saw its fair share of shakeup, the Green and White reeled in 361 points as the lone CCIW program to crack the list. Carthage dropped to the receiving votes category following a 1-1 week.

Five different programs hauled in first-place votes, but 12 top-spot nods and 597 points gave Randolph-Macon the No. 1 spot. Trinity (Conn.) is second with 573 points and four first-place votes, while Emory rounded out the top-three (553).

The Titans completed the regular season with a 21-4 overall record, highlighted by a 13-3 CCIW mark. IWU secured a 76-71 road win at North Park, Feb. 18, before overwhelming Augustana, 75-56, Feb. 21.

Illinois Wesleyan now turns its attention to the CCIW Tournament, with the final two rounds scheduled to take place Friday-Saturday, Feb. 27-28, inside the Shirk Center. Quarterfinal action begins Tuesday, Feb. 24, while IWU will return to action Friday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
