BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team returns home for the first time this season when they take on Franklin College and Webster University, Saturday, Feb. 14. Action from Evergreen Racquet Club is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.

The Titans (1-0) opened their season with a 7-0 win over the University of St. Francis (Ill.), Feb. 8. In doubles action, the Titans top pair of seniors Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Blomington) and Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) defeated Jedriel Bondoc and John Kenny, 6-0. With a default at No. 3 doubles, junior Thad Dillow (Effingham, Ill.-Effingham) and senior Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles over Lucas Fernandez and Jack O'Donnell.

In the singles slate, Turnbull took the win in the top spot, as he won both sets over Bondoc with scores of 6-2. Playing in the No. 2 spot, Vigneri made quick work of Kenny, as he took his sets 6-1, 6-1. Dillow downed Fernandez in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Hammond won 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth singles spot to defeat O'Donnell. With junior Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) getting the win at No. 6 singles via a default, freshman Will Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) earned his first career spring win with a 6-0 6-0 blanking over Justin Joseph at No. 5.

Franklin begins its spring slate after posting a 3-3 record in the fall. This is the first ever meeting between IWU and the Grizzlies. Meanwhile, Webster (2-4) also makes its spring debut Saturday. The Gorloks and the Titans will meet for the ninth time with the Green and White claiming the last six bouts. Last season, Illinois Wesleyan won 5-2 behind a doubles sweep and singles wins from Turnbull, Vigneri, and then-senior Ryan McCoy.
