BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will travel to No. 22 North Park University Saturday, Oct. 10 in Chicago. The Titans (6-1-2, 2-0-1 CCIW) are set to kickoff at 4 p.m. against the Vikings (9-1-2, 3-0 CCIW) at Holmgren Athletic Complex following the conclusion of the women's contest.
The Green and White is on a two-game winning streak after taking down College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foes Augustana College and Elmhurst University in back-to-back shutouts. Illinois Wesleyan completed its seventh shutout of the season Wednesday, Oct. 7 in a 4-nil win over the Bluejays. Declan Schuler (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame), Blye Brickman (Edwardsville, Ill.-Edwardsville), and Daniel Smazil (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) each scored their first goal of the season in the Titans' 3-nil win over Augie. The trio kept that alive, each adding a goal a piece in the first half against EU. Senior Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) added his third goal of the season in the second half to give IWU insurance and the 4-nil win.
Senior Owen Boukalik (Northville, Mich.-Northville) added his fourth shutout and third combined shutout of the season in Wednesday night's win. Boukalik now ranks third in the nation for goals against average (0.272) and sits 35th in shutouts (4), tied first in the CCIW with North Park's Arvid Skoglund. Illinois Wesleyan sits second in the conference with a scoring average of 2.222, just under Millikin. The Green and White lead the conference in shots (220) and corner kicks (69), while they sit tied-fourth in total goals (20).
The Vikings lead the all-time series over the Titans 29-11-3 with IWU holding a 3-14-2 away record against NPU. Despite this, the Titans came out victorious over the Vikings last season, grabbing a 2-1 regular season win and a 1-nil CCIW Tournament win to capture the 2025 CCIW Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Perchik, and seniors Faheem Mujahid (Saint Robert, Mo.-Waynesville), and Joey Rodino (Palatine, Ill.-Williams Fremd) were major contributors to Illinois Wesleyan's wins over North Park last season, with Rodino scoring the game-winner to push the Titans to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The Vikings are 3-0 in CCIW play so far this season, taking wins over Wheaton College, Augustana and Carthage College.
