BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will host Elmhurst University in a key College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin bout Wednesday, Oct. 7. Game time at Neis Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Titans are coming off a 3-0 win over Augustana College at Neis Field, Sept. 30. Senior Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) lifted the Titans to a 1-nil in the second half. Goals by sophomores Will Smucker (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) and Daniel Smazil (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) gave the Green and White the lopsided win and advanced its record to 1-0-1 in CCIW play (5-1-2 overall).
The Titans have yet to drop a contest at home with a standing 4-0 at Neis. Senior goalkeeper Owen Boukalik (Northville, Mich.-Northville) has found himself in the national rankings and top in the CCIW in shutouts and goals against average. Boukalik is ranked first in the CCIW and seventh in the nation with a 0.308 goals against average. He also ranks 26th in the nation in shutouts (4) and save percentage (0.857).
Elmhurst sits with a 1-1 CCIW record with an overall 4-4-2 record ahead of Wednesday. The Bluejays opened CCIW play with a 1-0 win over Carthage College, Sept. 23. However, EU faltered, 1-0, in its contest against North Central College, Oct. 3. The Titans lead the all-time series 11-8-4, including a 3-0 win over the Bluejays last October. EU is third in the CCIW in scoring average (1.90) and has allowed the fifth-fewest goals (14) around the league.
