Women’s Golf Tops Six DI Teams at Redbird Invite

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team defeated six Division I opponents at the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State University, which concluded Monday, Sept. 8. The Titans finished in tenth place in the field with a final round score of 311 at the 6169-yard, par-72 Weibring Golf Club.

Eastern Kentucky came from behind to win the tournament with a total score of 879. Individually, Karra Tucker of EKU claimed medalist honors with a three-under total score.

The Green and White were led by junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East), and sophomore Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) who finished in a tie for 34th place at 15-over. Junior Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) recorded the low round of the day for the Green and White, posting a two-over 74 and finishing in a tie for 39th place.

The Titans play host next weekend at Ironwood Golf Course, Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 13-14, for the IWU Fall Classic.
