Box Score
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season Saturday, Sept. 6 against Illinois College. The win saw three Titans score, as IWU walked away with a 3-0 victory. The Green and White advance to 1-2-0 on the season, while the Lady Blues fall to 2-1-1. Final stats will be published once available.

A miscue by the Lady Blues goalkeeper on a goal kick in the 14th minute put the ball just outside the box. Sophomore Taylor Haun (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) quickly gained possession and found the feet of senior Kayley Carew (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) 30 yards out. A wide open Carew banged a shot off the crossbar and in, recording her first career goal as a Titan.

In the 70th minute, sophomore Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.) shook her defender heading into the box before dumping it into the middle to a rushing Jenna Gravitt (Morton, Ill.-Morton) who knocked in the goal for a 2-nil lead.

Not long after, the Titans capitalized on another Lady Blues miscue in the 74th minute. An IC corner kick quickly found its way into the Green and White's possession, as Haun advanced the ball to midfield. Wiley took over from there, juking her defender down the field one-on-one, and eventually launching it over the goalkeeper to put the Titans ahead 3-0.

The Titan defense was instrumental in the win, only allowing one shot on goal in 90 minutes. Sophomore Vanessa Gray (Burlington, Ontario, Canada-Dr. Frank J. Hayden) got the start in between the pipes, playing almost 70 minutes before freshman Lauren Watson (Southaven, Miss.-Saint Mary's Episocpal) and sophomore Ella Randall (San Francisco, Calif.-The Bay School of San Francisco) split time to complete the game.

The Titans return to Bloomington for a mid-week non-conference game against Monmouth on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m at Neis Field.
