Women’s Soccer Hits the Road for Midweek Matchup

Titans look to bounce back after two losses

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team travels to Galesburg, Ill. for a non-conference matchup with Knox College Wednesday, Sept. 24. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m. at Jorge Prats field.
 
Sophomore Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) has been dominant for the Green and White offensively this season. Wiley leads the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in assists on the season with five. Wiley also ranks third in the league in points (13) and goals (4).  At goalkeeper, sophomore Vanessa Gray (Burlington, Ontario, Canada-Dr. Frank J. Hayden) ranks fourth in the CCIW with 32 saves in eight games as Illinois Wesleyan's goalkeeper.

Illinois Wesleyan (4-4-0) most recently dropped a competitive non-conference matchup, 1-0, Monday, Sept. 22, to Dominican University. Untimely fouls from the Titans led to the Stars' lone goal of the game in the 59th minute. Gray played 90 minutes in goal, recording seven saves in the loss. The Prairie Fire (3-3-1) most recently lost, 1-0, to Carthage College on Saturday, Sept. 20 in Kenosha, Wis. 

In the all-time series, IWU leads the Prairie Fire, 5-1. In their most recent meeting, the Titans came home from Galesburg with a 5-0 victory, as Wiley scored the first hat trick of her college career last season. Current sophomores Ellen Dahlquist (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) and Taylor Haun (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) also notched scores in the victory.
