Women’s Soccer Sees Win Streak Snapped at Trine

Wiley notches lone score for IWU

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team's four-game win streak was snapped at Trine University Saturday, Sept. 20, 4-1. The Titans fall to 4-3-0, while the Thunder climb to 4-1-2.

The Thunder got on the board first, as Maggie McDowell capitalized on a throw-in in the 20th minute to make the score 1-0, Trine.

Illinois Wesleyan responded quickly in the 29th minute, as sophomore Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) found the back of the net to level up the score 1-1 going into the halftime break. The goal is the fourth in the past five matches for the returning all-conference performer.

Ultimately, three second half goals from the Thunder would seal the deal, as Trine took the 3-1 victory.

Sophomore Vanessa Gray (Burlington, Ontario, Canada-Dr. Frank J. Hayden) spent all 90 minutes in goal for the Titans, recording 6 saves.

The Titans return from their road trip for an evening battle with Dominican at Neis Field on Monday, Sept. 22. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
