Box Score
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a contested matchup 1-nil to Lake Forest College Saturday, Sept. 20 at Neis Field.

Illinois Wesleyan stumbles to 4-1-2, while Lake Forest improves its unbeaten record to 7-0-0.

In a weather impaired matchup, which featured two separate delays, when play resumed, junior Ryder Coleman (Bannockburn, Ill.-Deerfield) had two opportunities to put the Titans on the board. His first chance came inside the box when he corralled a bouncing ball, shifted it to his right foot, and fired it off the fingers off the Lake Forest diving goalkeeper. His second shot-on-goal came in the 10th minute when he had a prime scoring chance, which was deflected away by goalkeeper Marceli Okonski.

The lone score in the match came in the 34th minute off the foot of Ollie Francis. A handball and a foul by the Titans led to a set play off a free kick for the Foresters. A short pass and shot by standout Peter Cirbo was blocked away by senior Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill-Cary-Grove), but stayed in the box and found the foot of Francis, who sent it to the back of the net.

Lake Forest carried its lead into the halftime break, and held on tightly throughout the second period. More scoring chances would come from the Titans, but it wasn't until late in the match when they threatened to score. The Green and White had a prime scoring chance with less than five minutes left, when sophomore LZ McIntosh (Lake in the Hills, Ill.- Harry D. Jacobs) tried to sneak a shot on the ground but the quick reflexes from goalkeeper Andrew Swacha washed it away.

Kedzior stayed steady between the pipes tonight enduring 11 shots, as four of them found the hands of the senior.

The Foresters stayed true to their style playing two goalkeepers who split time in net. Okonski earned the win with three saves. Andrew Swacha endured a heavy rush from the Titans at the end of the second period, but stayed strong with one save.

Illinois Wesleyan will look to bounce back Wednesday, Sept. 24 as it plays host to Eureka College in a makeup game from Wednesday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the home of the Titans, Neis Field.
