Zera Claims Women’s Golfer of the Week Honors

Earned third place finish, team title at IWU Fall Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University women's golfer, sophomore Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy), was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, Sept. 17. It is the first weekly honor of her career.

Zera was Illinois Wesleyan's and the CCIW's top finisher at the IWU Fall Classic on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 14-15, recording a solo third place finish. Carding back-to-back rounds of one-over 73 at the 5,823-yard Ironwood Golf Course, Zera tied her career-best 18-hole score and smashed her career-best 36-hole score by seven strokes. Zera led Illinois Wesleyan to a three-stroke team victory over DePauw, marking the first time the Titans have won the IWU Fall Classic since the tournament began in 2000.

Zera and the Titans enjoy the weekend off before heading to TPC Wisconsin for the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite in Madison, Wis. on Sunday-Monday Sept. 28-29.
