Women’s Soccer Looks to Add to Win Streak Versus Wartburg

Titans coming off two straight victories

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team hits the road for the second time this season to take on Wartburg College on Sunday, Sept. 14. for an afternoon non-conference battle. Match time is set for 3 p.m. in Waverly, Iowa.  

The Titans are coming off of two straight victories at Illinois College, Sept. 6, and at home against Monmouth Wednesday night, Sept. 10, improving their record to 2-2. The Green and White picked up a 5-1 win against the Scots, as five Titans found the back of the net. Sophomore Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) led the team with four points in the game on one goal and two assists. Sophomores Ellen Dahlquist (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) and Emily Kunzer (Elburn, Ill.-Kaneland), along with junior Sophie Lampert (Hudson, Ill.-Normal West) and senior Kayley Carew (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) also recorded goals in the win.  

Wartburg is 1-4-0 on the season, most recently dropping its midweek match Wednesday, Sept. 10 to Saint Mary's (Minn.), 3-0. The Knights have a full weekend, as they host Macalester in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 13, before playing host to the Titans Sunday, Sept. 14. 

The Titans are winless all-time against the Knights in their three meetings. Last season, the Knights and Titans met at the Midwest Tournament in River Forest, Ill., where Wartburg stole a 2-0 victory from the Green and White.
