LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the third straight season, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, announced by the organization Monday, July 21. It marks the fifth time in program history the Titans have earned the accolade.

The award, which began in 1992, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams (men/women, boys/girls, indoor/beach) that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average. All nine institutions from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin achieved the award.

The Titans put together another stellar year in the classroom, as senior Abby Erdman (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley), juniors Kannyn Boyd (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-Mt. Pleasant) and Hannah Tellor (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township), and sophomore Sophia Feeney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) represented the Green and White on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team. Boyd went on to be named to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team, becoming the first Titan to receive the award for women's volleyball since 1998, and the sixth in program history. The 2024 squad saw a total of nine members earn Academic All-CCIW honors.

Illinois Wesleyan is set to open its 2025 season Friday, Aug. 29, as the Titans host the first of three home tournaments. IWU will kick off the tournament against Earlham College at 6 p.m.
