NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A total of 111 Titans were named to the Dave Wrath Academic All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin list for the spring as the league office announced its final honorees of the year Friday, June 20. Illinois Wesleyan University men's golfer Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) and softball shortstop Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High) were tabbed IWU's Jack Swartz Award selections.

The Academic All-CCIW list comprises those individuals who achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school. 

Additionally, the CCIW announced all of the recipients of the Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award. Each CCIW member institution selects two student-athletes (one male & one female) from each of the three sports seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.50 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.

Pohl, a finance major with a 3.77 grade point average, turned in a tremendous year in his final collegiate season. The CCIW Men's Golfer of the Year, Pohl reeled in Golf Coaches Association of America PING Second Team All-American status, PING All-Region honors, and was a three-time CCIW Men's Golfer of the Week selection. Pohl, the 13th-ranked golfer across Division III, posted an average of 71.0 strokes per round over 11 tournaments with four top-three finishes. He was IWU's top-placer at the NCAA Championship, where he took seventh at two-over par for the 72-hole tournament. He picked up a win, the first of his career, at the Wabash College Fall Invitational as he topped the 84-player field. Overall, he tallied six top-10 placements on the year.

Finishing off her career with one of the most decorated seasons in program history, the award adds to a long list of accomplishments for Kuhn this year. The Normal, Ill. native was voted the College Sports Communicators Division III Softball Academic All-America of the Year, won the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Rawlings Gold Glove for her defensive prowess at shortstop, and was tabbed a First Team All-American by the NFCA. She became the second straight Titan to earn CCIW Defensive Player of the Year status alongside NFCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-CCIW honors. A three-time CCIW Hitter of the Week pick, Kuhn hit a team-best .449 on the year with 70 hits, 17 doubles, eight homers, 57 runs batted in, and 38 runs scored. She etched her name into IWU's career record books, establishing a new mark for career doubles and tying the program record for hits. Kuhn graduated with a degree in graphic design while maintaining a 3.98 GPA.

Pohl and Kuhn join IWU basketball standouts Nick Roper and Lauren Huber along with women's golfer Macy Ludwig and football student-athlete Josh Hlavacek as IWU's Jack Swartz Award recipients this year.
