USILA Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse junior defenseman Billy McHugh (Orland Park, Ill.-Mount Carmel) landed United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Blatant Division III All-American Honorable Mention status. The organization announced its All-American teams Thursday, May 22.

McHugh's selection is the first national honor for the junior transfer and marks the fifth straight season that a Titan has earned All-American status joining the likes of Max Bousky (2021), Rick Smith (2021, 2022), Carson Kiichle (2023), Gage Black (2023, 2024), and Michael Campagna (2024) all of who were named to the honorable mention team.

McHugh produced a phenomenal junior campaign and quickly found his spot in the Titans starting lineup as he helped anchor a strong Titan defense. The defender earned First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors after helping the team claim the CCIW Regular Season and Tournament titles on its way to the team's seventh NCAA Tournament appearance.

McHugh's relentless defense saw him rack up 22 caused turnovers and 40 ground balls while also scoring 13 points on 10 goals and three assists.

McHugh was one of six CCIW student-athletes to earn the distinction as Elmhurst University's Eli Spence, Tony Vasquez, and Matt Koshiol, Carthage College's Ben Krok, and North Central College's Aidan Murphy made the list.
