Kuhn earns first team nod

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Three members of the Illinois Wesleyan University softball team reeled in National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region status as the organization released its teams Friday, May 16. Senior shortstop Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High) was a first team selection, while the freshmen duo of Ella Hermes (Peru, Ill.-Saint Bede Academy) and Bella Pinter (LaMoille, Ill.-Saint Bede Academy) garnered second team honors at the DP/utility position.

Kuhn, who grabbed first team honors for the first time in her career after being a second team pick in 2024, is amid an outstanding senior season. The Normal, Ill. native is hitting a whopping .463 with team-highs of 69 hits, 16 doubles, and 57 RBIs. Kuhn is also tied for the team lead with a career-high eight homeruns on the year. A First Team All-College of Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin awardwinner, Kuhn was a three-time CCIW Hitter of the Week selection and was voted the CCIW Defensive Player of the Year. 

Hermes has been one of IWU's most versatile players this season, boasting a .339 batting average alongside a 2.25 earned run average in the circle. She has notched 21 hits, scored 10 runs, and drove in seven. Hermes has played in 29 games, making 20 starts between second base and pitcher. She holds a 4-1 record in the circle, striking out 18 over 28.0 innings, while limiting opponents to a .218 batting average.

Pinter, a Second Team All-CCIW honoree, is hitting .370 on the year as the team's primary DP. The freshman has 44 hits, including seven doubles and seven homers. Pinter is third on the team with 32 RBIs alongside 23 runs, while leading the team with 21 walks. 

The Titans play in tomorrow's regional championship at 11 a.m. IWU will face Bethany Lutheran College with a chance to secure the program's first super regional appearance since 2019.
