BLOOMINGTON, Ill. & NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the third straight season, junior Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) was named Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin after manning the top spot in both singles and doubles all season. The league announced conference awards ahead of the CCIW Tournament Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3, hosted by Augustana College. Illinois Wesleyan brings in a record of 5-13, and 1-6 in conference contests, earning it the No. 7 seed, and will face second-seed Carthage College in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Westwood Sports Center in Sterling, Ill.

Turnbull collects his third all-conference honor after posting a 3-3 record in both doubles and singles action. In individual play, the junior picked up wins at No. 1 singles over Wheaton College, Elmhurst University, and Millikin University. Alongside fellow junior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy), the pair beat Millikin and Augustana's top duo. Turnbull teamed up with fifth-year Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) for a win at No. 1 doubles against Elmhurst. Sophomore Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) was IWU's recipient of the CCIW RESPECT award for the second straight season.

Turnbull and the Titans turn their attention to a quarterfinals contest against Carthage, which enters the tournament with an overall record of 17-6, and earned a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship behind a 6-1 record in league play. Illinois Wesleyan and CC will meet for the 38th time since 1991, with the Firebirds owning a 36-5 edge in the series. The Titans dropped the regular season bout, 7-0, Saturday, April 12.

Action is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will be the third of four matches on the opening day of the tournament. Due to inclement weather, Thursday's matches will be played at Westwood Sports Center in Sterling, Ill., before hopefully being returned to Lincoln Park on Augie's campus the following two days. Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match.
