Holland Repeats as CCIW Pitcher of the Week

Third weekly award of the season for the sophomore

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the third time this season and second time in as many weeks, sophomore Mallory Holland (Shelbyville, Ill.-Shelbyville) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon, April 28. Holland marks the sixth weekly award for the Titans this season, as Jen Kuhn was previously named the league's hitter of the week twice and Gianna Certa was tabbed the pitcher of the week once.

Holland was tremendous for the Green and White, April 23-27, turning in a 3-0 week as IWU went 6-0 overall. The Shelbyville, Ill. native posted a 0.41 earned run average over 17.0 innings. She fanned five and held the opposition to just one earned run on a .194 batting average.

The sophomore righty kicked off the week with a six-inning shutout of North Central, April 23, in which she struckout three and held the Cardinals to three hits. She followed with 5.0 innings of two-hit ball in a win at Carroll, April 26. Holland closed out the week with six strong innings to push the Titans to a win at Carthage, April 27, locking up at least a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship.

Holland and the Titans will look to claim sole possession of the league championship Wednesday, April 30, as IWU plays host to Augustana College in the regular season finale. First pitch is on track for 2 p.m.
