BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a 2-1 week, the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team will take on two teams in the midweek. IWU will see a non-conference matchup at home to start on Tuesday, April 29, against Blackburn College and then will travel to Waukesha, Wis., to play College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Carroll University, Wednesday, April 30.

Illinois Wesleyan (21-13, 12-14 CCIW) just recently played a double header Saturday, April 26 against non-conference DePauw University. The Titans took game one shutting out the Tigers, 3-0, before the Tigers took over game two and sealed a victory for themselves, 11-3. Senior Tristan Figus (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Buffalo Grove) went a perfect 4-for-4 in game one, while junior Will Davidsmeier (Virginia, Ill.-Beardstown) got the start on the mound for the Green and White, collecting the win and striking out seven.

Blackburn (7-27, 4-12 SLIAC) and Illinois Wesleyan have met a total of 22 times dating back to 2000. IWU holds the upperhand going 15-6-1 against the Beavers. The Green and White most recently lost to BC in the last meeting on April 30, 2024, where the Titans fell 7-5.

IWU and CU have met 23 times before Wednesday's meeting, with the series dating back to 2017. The Titans hold an overall record of 17-6 against the Pioneers with its most recent meeting three weeks ago on April 1. Illinois Wesleyan took Carroll down 11-4, leaving no room for a comeback. Senior Dalen Banks (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) made the start on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out four batters. He was relieved by sophomore Caleb Martinez (Wheeling, Ill.-Wheeling), junior Luke Costello (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South), and senior Brady Hartman (Milan, Ill.-Sherrard). Hartman earned the win after tossing two scoreless innings, as he faced nine batters and induced five ground outs while scattering two hits and a walk. Offensively, senior Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, Ill.-Schaumburg) led the charge, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs, three RBIs, and a double. Freshmen Ben Ford (Naperville, Ill.-Waubonsie Valley) and Matt Hudik (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) both turned in impressive 2-for-3 performances, with Ford adding two runs and Hudik contributing a run and an RBI.

After beating Millikin, IWU clinched a spot in the CCIW tournament. Sitting second currently, IWU is behind Carthage, which is 13-3 in conference. Before taking on IWU in a three-game series finale, Carthage will play North Central for a midweek matchup with this weekend being the determining factor of who will take the regular season championship, and who will host the CCIW Tournament.

Gadomksi sits first in conference in overall batting average, along with sitting in the No. 1 spot in hits (62), and doubles (24), and is second in OPS (1.117). Senior Cade Tomhave (Pittsfield, Ill.-Pittsfield) ranks first in on-base percentage at .503, while also holding second in batting average at .397.
