Men’s Tennis Falters at North Central

Titans host Augustana for regular season finale Sunday, April 27

WHEATON, Ill. - In its last road trip of the regular season, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to North Central College Saturday, April 19, at the Wheaton Tennis Courts in Wheaton, Ill. With the loss, IWU falls to 5-12 overall, and 1-5 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin contests, while NCC improves to 10-6 overall, and 5-1 in league play.

Junior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) posted the closest contest for the Green and White. At No. 2 singles, Vigneri took the opening set behind a tiebreaker. Winning it 7-6, the junior needed extra time to take the tiebreaker 9-7. After falling in the second set, 6-1, Vigneri battled in the super tiebreaker, but was upended, 11-9.

Illinois Wesleyan closes out its regular season by hosting Augustana College Sunday, April 17. The Titans will take on the Vikings at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club. Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match.
