Baseball travels for Two Games at Augustana, One Game at Home

Double header Saturday, followed by single game Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team will travel to Rock Island, Ill. for a doubleheader against Augustana College Saturday, April 12. The Titans and Vikings will then square off at Horenberger Field, Sunday, April 13, to close out the weekend series. 

The Titans are coming off a midweek victory where they took on Monmouth College. IWU defeated The Scots 13-3 in seven innings via the run-rule. 

At the plate the Green and White tallied 13 runs on 11 hits, including four doubles, while playing error-free defense. Leading the way, senior Cade Tomhave (Pittsfield, Ill.-Pittsfield) went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Fellow senior Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, Ill.-Schaumburg) added a two hit performance of his own while tallying a game-high four RBIs. Junior Gage Wolfe (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) added a 2-for-4 performance, driving in a run and crossing the plate twice. 

Illinois Wesleyan continues to lead the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in overall batting average with a .343, good for sixth in all of Division III. Tomhave leads the CCIW in on base percentage with a 0.560, while Gadomski leads the conference in slugging percentage with a .708. Both seniors sit in top-five positions in batting average with a .434, and .407, respectively. 
 
IWU and Augustana have a history dating back to 1988. The Titans lead in the all-time series record, 73-64, with the Titans sweeping the series last season, 2-0. Illinois Wesleyan won the first game of the doubleheader April 13, 2024. Then-sophomore Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) snagged his fifth win of the year with then-sophomore Jack Flagg (River Forest, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) pacing the Titans going 2-4 with two RBIs. Then won the second game of the doubleheader by a 6-0 score.
