BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will play host to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foes Carroll University and Carthage College for two conference matches Friday-Saturday, April 11-12. IWU (5-8, 1-1 CCIW) will take on Carroll (8-7, 0-3 CCIW) Friday April 11, at 3:30 p.m., before welcoming Carthage (11-6, 1-1 CCIW) for a 10 a.m. bout Saturday, April 12. Both matches will take place at Evergreen Racquet Club.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the weekend off a sweep of Elmhurst University, winning 7-0 Saturday, April 5. The Titans rebounded for the CCIW win after dropping a 5-2 decision at Wheaton College earlier that day. The Green and White logged the one point reward in doubles play behind a sweep, with all three doubles pairings taking their contests 6-0. Illinois Wesleyan continued its dominant performance in singles action, notching the win in all six slots. Juniors Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) and Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) logged their second individual wins of the day, as both won at Wheaton as well. Turnbull won No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Vigneri stole his sets 6-1, 6-2. At No. 3 individuals, fifth-year Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) swept his sets, winning both 6-0. Sophomore Thad Dillow (Effingham, Ill.-Effingham) followed at No. 4, securing both of his sets 6-2. Playing at No. 5 singles, junior Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) notched a win by taking both sets in sweeping fashion, 6-0. Sophomore Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) locked in the sweep with a victory at No. 6 singles, taking his sets 6-0, 6-0.

With a brief history dating back to 1990, the Titans will meet the Pioneers on the tennis courts for the 13th time. The series stands even at 6-6, but CU won the most recent battle, 7-2, April 19, 2024, snapping IWU's four-match win streak over the Pios. Carroll comes to town off a 5-2 loss to Augustana College Friday, April 4.

Meeting for the 37th time since 1991, Carthage enters the battle with a commanding 30-6 edge in the series. IWU will look to secure its first win over the Firebirds since 2005 Saturday morning, and eyes avenging its 9-0 loss in the last meeting, April 20, 2024. The Firebirds will face Millikin Friday night before heading to Bloomington Saturday, and enter the weekend off a 4-3 win over Augustana Saturday, April 5.

Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the contests.
