Men’s Tennis Makes Trip to Gulf Shores for Three Duals

Titans will face St. Thomas (Texas), Belhaven, and UW-Superior

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Heading down to Gulf Shores, Ala., for its spring break trip, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will play three dual matches over the span of Monday-Thursday, March 10-13.

The Titans (2-4) will face University of St. Thomas (Texas) Monday, March 10, at 11 a.m. to kick off the trip, followed by a dual against Belhaven University Tuesday, March 11 at 8 a.m. IWU will complete its trip by facing University of Wisconsin-Superior at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13.

Illinois Wesleyan most recently fell to Greenville University, 6-1, Saturday, March 1. The Green and White's lone win came at No. 2 singles, as junior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) took home the victory. After dropping the opening set, 6-4, Vigneri responded by flipping the score to force a super tiebreaker, which he won 13-11.

IWU will face St. Thomas (3-1), Belhaven (3-4), and UW-Superior (3-7) for the first time in program history. UST enters the contest off a 6-1 win over Austin College Sunday, March 2. BU looks to snap its two-match losing streak, most recently dropping its dual with Piedmont University, 8-1, Saturday, March 1. UW-Superior (3-7) comes to Gulf Shores off a win over St. Olaf College, 5-2, Sunday, Feb. 16.
