Certa Collects CCIW Pitcher of the Week Award

Fifth weekly award of her career

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - One day removed from the first perfect game of her career, junior Gianna Certa (Third Lake, Ill.-Grayslake North) was recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Monday afternoon, March 31. It is the fifth weekly league award of Certa's career.

Certa threw 19.1 innings over four appearances, compiling a 1.81 earned run average. The Third Lake, Ill. native posted a 3-0 record with one save while striking out 15 and not issuing a walk. Certa's dazzling performance against Lake Forest saw the junior fan six Foresters over six innings as she tossed the program's first perfect game since 2020.

Certa added wins against Illinois College, Wartburg, and a save against Lake Forest in game one of the doubleheader, March 30.

Illinois Wesleyan is scheduled to play at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater this Thursday, April 3. The doubleheader, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, will get underway with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
