NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior Jen Kuhn (Normal, Ill.-University High) and sophomore Mallory Holland (Shelbyville, Ill.-Shelbyville) of the Illinois Wesleyan University softball team swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's weekly awards Monday afternoon, March 10. Kuhn was tabbed the CCIW Hitter of the Week, while Holland hauled in pitcher of the week honors. It is the second league accolade of Kuhn's career, with Holland receiving the recognition for the first time in her career.

Kuhn jumped out to a hot start at the plate as Illinois Wesleyan opened the 2025 season in California, March 8-9, against top-tier competition. Kuhn cranked out six hits in 10 at bats, good for a .600 batting average, while driving in seven. The senior shortstop recorded three doubles and scored a run, while posting an OPS of 1.445.

Kuhn led IWU in each of the Titans' wins. In their opener, she went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, two doubles, and a run scored to push Illinois Wesleyan past Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 6-1. She finished off the four-game slate with a 2-for-3 effort against Chapman, March 9, helping guide IWU to a 3-0 win. Kuhn drove in seven of IWU's 15 runs, while she accounted for more than half of the runs (8-of-15) overall.

Holland put together a strong start to the season in the circle. Tossing a team-high 12 innings over two appearances, she did not allow an earned run while holding opponents to a .159 batting average. The Shelbyville, Ill. product threw five innings in relief against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, limiting the Athenas to two hits, in a no-decision. Holland followed that up with the first complete game and first shutout of her career in a 3-0 win at Chapman.

Illinois Wesleyan wraps up its spring break trip today, March 10, with games against Bethel University and Case Western Reserve University.
