BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Coming off its first win of the season last weekend, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team will host Webster University Saturday, Feb. 15. Action is set to begin inside Evergreen Racquet Club at 4:30 p.m.

The Titans (1-3) enter Saturday after sweeping Lawrence University, 7-0, in a dominating match Friday, Feb. 7. It marked the third consecutive win against the Vikings, upholding an unbeaten record against them. The match saw juniors Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) and Ben Vigniri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy) secure a 6-2 doubles victory to claim the top spot. Fifth-year Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) and sophomore Thad Dillow (Effingham, Ill.-Effingham) claimed the second duos spot. Junior Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and sophomore Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) completed the trifecta with a 6-2 decision to claim No. 3 spot.

All six Titans won their individual matches to complete the sweep. 

The Titans will take on Webster (2-3) for the seventh time, with the limited series dating back to 2010. Illinois Wesleyan owns the 6-1 advantage against the Gorloks, including the most recent meeting Feb. 23, 2024. The Green and White walked away with a 6-3 victory, securing their fourth win of the season. WU comes to town off a 1-6 loss over Millikin University, Saturday, Feb. 8.
