CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team made its 2025 debut Saturday, Feb. 1. The Titans (0-3) traveled to Crawfordsville, Ind. to face Wabash College and Division II Cedarville University. IWU fell in the opener to Wabash (1-0), 6-1, before dropping the bout with the Yellow Jackets (4-4), 7-0.

Junior
Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and sophomore
Chase Tomecki (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) picked up the win at the third doubles slot, defeating Jett Brownlee and Ethan Koeneman from Wabash, 6-4. The victory gives Tomecki his first collegiate doubles win. The Little Giants claimed the other two doubles contests to take the point heading into individual action.
Hammond picked up the lone win in singles action, continuing his strong showing. The junior picked up the win in the No. 5 singles spot, defeating Wabash's Blake Discher II. Hammond took the first set via the tiebreaker 7-6(6), before rolling to the win with a second set win of 6-2.
IWU 0, Cedarville 7
Illinois Wesleyan closed out its first day of spring action by facing Cedarville in a neutral site contest. The Titans were unable to secure a point in the match, with the closest slot coming at No. 1 singles for junior
Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington). Turnbull took the first set by way of a tiebreaker, 7-6(4), before falling to the same score in the second, forcing a decisive super tiebreaker. Turnbull came up short at 10-5.
IWU will host its first match at home of the season, as the Titans welcome Lawrence University to Evergreen Racquet Club Friday, Feb. 7. First serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
