Men’s Wrestling Travels to Concordia-Wisconsin

IWU goes for second straight win over Falcons

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team (0-4) treks up to Mequon, Wis. for a Friday night showdown with College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, Concordia-Wisconsin (0-2), Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.

The Titans are coming off of a triangular at Augustana where they fell to both Augie and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. 

Against the Vikings, the Titans fell 39-16. Freshman 125-pounder Brady Mouser (Bloomington, Ill.-Tri Valley) defeated Jack Reina 14-9 via a technical fall to give IWU a 5-0 lead. At 133 pounds, freshman Tyson Zvonar (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) bested Tyson Bruce via a 15-0 technical fall at 133 pounds, which doubled the Green and White's lead to 10-0. After the Vikings claimed the next five bouts, sophomore Lucas Blanton (Dixon, Ill.-Amboy) pinned Lamero Ceasar. The Vikings won the remaining two matches.

Against MSOE, Zvonar picked up a win via a pin. Junior Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) joined Zvonar in the win column against MSOE. 

The Falcons sit at 0-2 in dual meets this season, falling to Lakeland and MSOE. Last season, Illinois Wesleyan defeated CUW, 43-12, which was the program's first win since it was reinstated prior to the 2023-24 academic year. Then freshmen Ameer Alamawi (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) and Evan Carel (Hamilton, Ill.-Hamilton), then sophomore Jeremy Olson (Tremont, Ill.-Tremont) and then senior Bobby Conroy secured pins for IWU.
