BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The second-seeded Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team welcomes No. 3 North Central College to Neis Field Wednesday, Nov. 5, for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. under the lights of Neis Field.

Illinois Wesleyan landed three players on the All-CCIW list, announced by the league office Friday, Oct. 31. Junior Ryder Coleman (Bannockburn, Ill.-Deerfield) earned first team recognition, while the second team featured senior co-captain Jerry Smazil (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) and senior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary-Grove).

The Green and White enter the postseason resting on an 11-2-4 record with a 5-1-2 conference mark. It's the first time the Titan men's soccer program has posted double digit wins since 2018. The group is also one win away from tying the all-time wins record, set by the 1995 squad, which finished with a 12-6 mark.

The Titans capped off a successful regular season Wednesday, Oct. 29, with a 2-1 win over Millikin University. IWU notched the No. 2 seed in the CCIW Tournament behind a brace from Coleman and a 10-save performance from Kedzior.

The Illinois Wesleyan attack, led by Coleman, posted 17 assists in conference play, second-most behind North Central. The Titans' 47 total points in league play was good for third in the CCIW. Coleman's brace against Millikin netted his fifth and sixth goals of the year to go along with his six assists for a team-leading 18 points. Freshman Hunter Reinberg (St. Francis Borgia-Washington, Mo.) and junior Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) followed Coleman with a strong conference season as they each recorded two goals and finished with six and five league points, respectively.

Defensively, the Titans have held opponents to one or fewer goals in each of the last six matches. The defensive mainstays of senior Kalabi Kamau (Alparretta, Ga.- Marist School) and senior co-captain Nick McCully (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods) has wreaked havoc on opponents' attackers with Kedzior behind them between the pipes. On the year, Kedzior posted a career-best goals against average of 0.98 to pair with an .812 save percentage. The Cary, Ill. native has notched four shutouts and 69 saves.

IWU and NCC last met Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Naperville, Ill., drawing at one apiece. Junior Joey Rodino (Palatine, Ill.-Fremd) put the Titans out in front in the sixth minute, but CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year Joseph Sargent tied the match in the 34th minute.

The Cardinals own a 21-14-6 record in the history of the match up. The two have dueled twice in the postseason, most recently in 2021, with NCC advancing 2-1. Illinois Wesleyan moved on in 2019 after pulling out a 4-1 edge in penalty kicks after being knotted scoreless at the end of overtime. The series kicked off in 1986 with the last Titan victory coming Oct. 9, 2019 when they pulled off a slim 1-nil overtime victory on the Cardinals pitch.
