Johnston Earns Second Straight Win, Men's Wrestling Falls to No. 10 NCC

Normal, Ill. native improves to 4-2 on the season

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling dropped a 44-9 contest to tenth-ranked North Central College, Monday Nov 17, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual. The dual marked just the second home meet for the IWU men's wrestling since the program was reinstated in 2023.

In the first dual inside the Shirk Center of the season, both teams picked up six points on forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds. In the action on the mat, junior Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill. - Normal West) held firm control en route to a 5-3 decision over Carson Prunty. His win is the first triumph for the program inside the Shirk Center. The Green and White was unable to snag any more points, as the Cardinals claimed the remaining matches.

IWU is back in action, Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Eight Man Battles hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
