Women’s Soccer Returns Home for Date with North Park

Titans look for first win in league play

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team returns to Neis Field for a homecoming matchup with College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe North Park University Saturday, Oct. 11. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will serve as the front half of a doubleheader with the Titan men's squad. 

IWU (5-5-2, 0-1-1 CCIW) most recently battled to a 0-0 draw against Wheaton College Wednesday, Oct. 8. Sophomore Vanessa Gray (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) recorded five saves in the scoreless draw as the Titans nearly got on the board with three shots on target in the final five minutes. 

The Titans have three players in the top-10 of the CCIW in assists this season. Sophomore Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) ranks second with five helpers this year. Sophomore Ellen Dahlquist (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) and senior Kayley Carew (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) have four and three assists this season, respectively. Sophomore Keira Robinson (Bloomington, Ind.-Bloomington South) ranks fourth in the league in goals with five on the year. 

North Park (6-6-0, 3-0-0 CCIW) is undefeated in conference play, most recently shutting out Elmhurst, 2-0, Wednesday, Oct. 8. NPU's Caroline Sjøstedt leads the CCIW in assists with six on the season, as North Park's offense is averaging three goals per game in league play thus far. 

In the all-time series, the Titans have dominated the Vikings, winning 28 of 32 total meetings. A season ago, North Park picked up their fourth win all-time over IWU, claiming a 2-0 victory in Chicago, Ill.
