Zera Earns Second CCIW Accolade of the Season

Zera tied career-low round at UW-Whitewater Fall Invite

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University sophomore women's golfer Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) earned College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Golfer of the Week honors, announced by the league office Wednesday, Oct. 8. The award marks the second weekly honor of her career, with the first occurrence coming earlier this season.

Zera was Illinois Wesleyan's top finisher at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Invite Sunday-Monday, Sept. 29-30, at the difficult par-72, 5680-yard TPC Wisconsin. Claiming a fourth-place finish, Zera shot 77 in the opening round, followed by a final round one-over 73. Zera's fourth-place finish is the fourth top-five placement of her career. Her final round 73 also ties her career-low 18-hole score, a score she has fired four times this fall. Zera led the Titans to a third-place team finish.

Zera and the Titans are currently pursuing their fourth consecutive CCIW Championship at Metamora Fields Golf Club in Metamora, Ill.
