Women’s Golf Extends Lead at CCIW Championship

METAMORA, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team cushioned their lead in the second round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Tuesday, Oct. 7 hosted at the par-71, 5738-yard Metamora Fields Golf Club. After a second round 297, the Titans hold a 26-stroke lead over North Central College.

Junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) continued her reign atop the individual leaderboard, carding a second round two-over 73, good for a 146 36-hole total. Sophomore Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) climbed into second-place after her second round two-over 73. Junior Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) also holds a spot in the top-10, owning the fifth spot, shooting a second round three-over 74. In her CCIW Championship debut, freshman Julia Henry (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) continues to impress, sitting in sixth with a total of 152.

The Titans are 26 strokes ahead of second-place North Central (624), who carded a second-round 309. Augustana rounds out the top-three teams at 631 (315-316).

The first final round tee time for the Titans is set for 10:48 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Metamora Fields Golf Club.
