Women’s Golf Leads CCIW Championship After Round One

Gastrau holds share of the individual lead

METAMORA, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team sits in the lead after the opening round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Monday, Oct. 6, hosted at the par-71, 5738-yard Metamora Fields Golf Club. After posting an opening round 301, the Titans are 11 strokes ahead of second-place Carthage College. 

Junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) holds a share of the individual lead after her opening round, two-over, 73. Freshman Julia Henry (Homewood,Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) recorded her best round as a Titan, firing a four-over 75 and sits in a tie for third-place. Sophomore Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy) and junior Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) also claimed spots in the top-10 after their opening rounds of 76 and 77, respectively.
 
Carthage's Lexi Manteufel shot a 73, matching Gastrau, as they each hold a share of the individual lead. The Firebirds recorded an opening round 312, while Augustana and North Central are not far behind after their equal rounds of 315. 

The first Titan tee time is set for 10:48 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Metamora Fields Golf Club.
