Women’s Soccer Begins League Play at Carthage

Match time scheduled for 4 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team (5-4-1, 0-0 CCIW) heads to Kenosha, Wis. to take on Carthage College (5-4-2, 1-0 CCIW) Saturday, Oct. 4 for the start of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. Match time is set for 4 p.m. at Art Keller Field. 

Reigning CCIW Offensive Player of the Week sophomore Keira Robinson (Bloomington, Ind.-Bloomington South) scored four goals in two games last week, launching herself into second-place in the league with five goals on the season. Sophomore Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) continues to lead the conference in assists, dishing out five this season. Fellow sophomore Ellen Dahlquist (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) has the second-most assists with four on the year, including three this week. 

Illinois Wesleyan most recently fought back to a draw with UW-Platteville Saturday, Sept. 27. After going down 3-1 in the beginning of the second half, Robinson scored on a penalty kick in the 69th minute, and again off of a cross from Dahlquist in the 78th minute to finish in a 3-3 tie with the Pioneers. 

Carthage scored a 4-1 win over Millikin University Saturday, Sept. 27 to start CCIW play 1-0. The Firebirds' Emma Amberg found the back of the net twice in the win, as she ranks third in the conference with four goals this season. 

IWU holds a 20-9-6 advantage all-time against the Firebirds. The Green and White dropped a 2-0 contest last season, Oct. 5, 2024, to Carthage.
