BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Coming off a successful Homecoming weekend, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team travels to Augustana University Wednesday, Oct. 8. The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin contest features IWU with an 8-2-2 slate and an unbeaten 4-0-1 mark on the road. The Titans are currently in a tie for third place in the CCIW with six points and a 2-1 record. Kickoff in Rock Island, Ill. is set for 7 p.m.

Last time out, Saturday, Oct. 11, the Titans slugged out a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over North Park University, on a junior Faheem Mujahid (Saint Robert Mo.-Waynesville) goal in the 84th minute. The other goal came from fellow junior Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) in the 56th minute. Off a header from Mujahid, Perchik beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to the left side of the net to put the Titans on the board.

The Titan offense has been one of the best behind the backs of junior Ryder Coleman (Bannockburn, Ill.-Deerfield) and sophomore Ben Lyons (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg). They sit above the rest of the CCIW in assists, points, and goals with Coleman resting at fifth with two conference goals. Lyons is the leading goal getter for the Titans with five. Leading the charge in points for Illinois Wesleyan is the aforementioned Coleman and Lyons with 12, respectively.

Senior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior's (Cary, Ill.-Cary-Grove) 1.02 goals against average holds strong at the top of the conference. Kedzior ranks second in both shutouts (three) and save percentage at .793. Last week, Kedzior faced 17 shots stopping 13 of them.

Augustana comes into the meeting with a 1-2-1 mark, featuring a draw to North Central College, with its lone victory coming against formerly ranked No. 16 North Park. With an overall record of 3-5-3, Augie is led by freshman Javi Landen with eight points, four assists, and two goals. His four assists pace the CCIW. Fellow freshman William Gabrielsson anchors the defense in net for the Vikings. He has surrendered 20 goals, and corralled 60 saves with a .750 save percentage.

The all-time matchup between the two teams sits at 18-18-3. The all-squared series has seen IWU dominate for the better part of 15 years, winning the last 13-of-14 matches dating back to 2011. The teams first met in 1987 with Augustana winning the first eight matches. Last year, Wednesday, Oct. 16, Illinois Wesleyan capitalized on a free kick from then senior Mush Bakirdan for a 1-nil win.
