Women’s Golf Improves in Round Two in Florida

Cerroni continues to lead Titans individually

SANDESTIN, Fla. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team moved up the leaderboard at the Golfweek October Classic Monday, Oct. 13, posting a second round 310. The Titans improved to 13th-place at the 5601-yard, par-72 Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Sandestin, Fla.

Junior Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis-Waukesha North) continues to lead IWU, carding a second round three-over 75. Cerroni sits just outside the top-10 in a tie for 12th-place at five-over par for the tournament. Junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) continues her strong play, posting a 12-over-par total through the first two rounds and sitting in 39th-place. Freshman Julia Henry (Flossmoor, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) bounced back with a second round 77, earning her a 58th-place ranking headed into the final round.

Williams and Hamilton share the tournament lead at 18-over-par by one stroke over third-place Grinnell. Randolph-Macon and Trinity round out the top-five teams. Natalie Catapano of Sewanee carded a five-under par 67 in round two to overtake the individual lead going into the final round.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7:30 a.m. Live results can be found here.
