Women’s Golf Completes Round One at Golfweek October Classic

SANDESTIN, Fla. - The No. 12 Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team sits in 14th place following the opening round at the Golfweek October Classic Sunday, October 12. IWU carded a 323 at the 5601-yard, par-72 Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Sandestin, Fla.

Junior Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) is the lone Titan in the top-10 individually, following her opening round two-over par, 74. Cerroni utilized five birdies in her round, including three-in-a-row on the opening nine holes, as she shares eighth-place. Fellow junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) was not far behind Cerroni, carding a five-over, 77, and sitting in 25th-place after the opening round.

Eighth-ranked Williams and No. 24 Grinnell top the team leaderboard after posting matching opening rounds of 300. Seventh-ranked Randolph-Macon and No. 18 Hamilton share third-place following their pair of 303s, while DePauw rounds out the top-five teams. DePauw's Becky Williams and RMU's Morgan Mussatt lead on the individual side after carding one-under par, 71s.
