NEW ORLEANS – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams were named United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Teams while four Titans were named All-Academic Athletes as seniors Nick Fisch (Woodridge, Ill.-Woodridge) and Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville), junior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University high), and freshman Maddie Morgan (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West) all earned the distinction. The organization announced its selections, Thursday, Jan. 30.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team distinction, teams must hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. Both IWU programs, led by head coach Greg Huffaker, were recognized by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic as the men have a 3.389 cumulative GPA and the women hold a 3.585.

For the All-Academic athlete distinction, one must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Fisch, a biology major, earns All-Academic honors for the first time in his career. The senior capped off his collegiate career with all-region honors after placing 32nd overall at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships, Nov. 16, the first all-region honor of his career. In his final cross country season, Fisch also claimed his second All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honoree as he was named to the second team with a 16th-place finish at the conference championships.

A senior neuroscience major, Chudy claims the third USTFCCCA All-Academic honor of her career after placing 27th overall at the regional championship race. Chudy's senior campaign saw her pick up the third all-region and All-CCIW honors of her storied career. Chudy was named a First Team All-CCIW selection after a ninth-place finish at the conference championships. Chudy's resume also includes a pair of College Sports Communicators Academic All-District awards and was named a Third Team Academic All-America honoree in 2024.

Crabtree, an environmental studies and biology double major, earns the third USTFCCCA All-Academic award of her career after earning the distinction for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The junior posted a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in November, marking the highest finish by a Titan since 2015, to earn her second all-region honor and became only the second Titan in program history to qualify for the NCAA Championship meet in back to back years. Crabtree also finished third at the conference meet for her second First Team All-CCIW honor.

Off to an impressive start to her collegiate career, Morgan adds the first USTFCCCA All-Academic honor to her resume to go along with her all-region and All-CCIW selections. Morgan's 14th-place finish at the CCIW Championships earned the freshman All-CCIW honors just weeks before claiming all-region honors with a 25th-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.

The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's cross country teams start to look ahead for the 2025 season.
