BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After an extended break from competition, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team will be back on the mat Monday, Jan. 6 for a collection of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action. The Titans head to Milwaukee, Wis. for a triangular with Carthage College and meet host, Milwaukee School of Engineering. IWU will face the Firebirds at 5 p.m. before battling the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. in the Kern Center.

The Green and White's most recent competition came at the North Central College Invitational, Dec. 14 where sophomore Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) and freshman Ameer Alamawi (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) both put together 2-2 records on the day.

Johnston picked up two pins in the 141-pound weight class to lead the team with four pins on the season. The sophomore's performance at the NCC Invite locked in the first individual regional ranking for IWU as Johnston landed the sixth spot at 141-pounds in the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings, Dec. 20.

Monday's meetings will be the first time IWU will face Carthage or MSOE in dual action. The Firebirds are 3-2 this season in duals and 2-2 in CCIW matches. Carthage's two conference wins came over Wheaton and Concordia-Wisconsin.

The Raiders hold a 2-2 overall record with a 1-2 standing in league action. MSOE's sole win in the CCIW so far this season was a 53-0 shutout over Concordia-Wisconsin.

IWU faced the top two teams in the CCIW earlier this season, Millikin (8-0, 5-0 CCIW) and North Central (6-1, 4-0 CCIW) and carries a 2-0 record into Monday.

Illinois Wesleyan and Carthage will kick off the evening on Monday, Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. before the Titans take on MSOE at 6:30 p.m. Carthage and MSOE will close out the night with a dual at 8 p.m. Final results will be posted on the men's wrestling schedule page of iwusports.com upon the conclusion of the meet.
