Men's Wrestling Readies for CCIW Duals

Duals at noon, 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team hits the road Saturday, Jan. 25 for its first appearance at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Duals in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage College will serve as the meet host with action set to start at noon in Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center. 

IWU most recently had eight wrestlers compete at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 18. Sophomore Austin Johnston (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) led the way with a 2-2 record on the day, picking up wins by a pin and a decision. Freshmen Ameer Alamawi (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) and Lucas Blanton (Dixon, Ill.-Amboy), and senior Omar AlQammaz (Orland Park, Ill.-Victor J. Andrew) each picked up bout wins on the day. 

Head coach Adam Richards will take a full squad to the CCIW Duals this Saturday. IWU's weekend slate will kick off with a noon dual against Concordia University Wisconsin before taking on Elmhurst University at 1:30 p.m. and Wheaton College at 3 p.m.

IWU trails 0-4 in regular season CCIW duals, sitting just ahead of Wheaton (0-5 CCIW). North Central College tops the league with an undefeated 6-0 record but will not compete at the CCIW Duals on Saturday. Millikin University ranks second with a 5-1 league record. Augustana College and Aurora University are both 2-1 in CCIW action while Milwaukee School of Engineering is 3-2, Elmhurst is 3-3, and Carthage College is 3-4. Concordia Wisconsin sits just ahead of IWU at 1-4.
