Men’s Swimming Fall in Dual to Wabash

Little Giants beat the Titans 161-33

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's swim and dive team competed in a dual Friday, Jan. 24 against the Little Giants of Wabash College. WC took home the win beating the Titans 161-33 inside Fort Natatorium. 

Four Titans claimed top three spots in multiple events. Senior Carter Dilger (Sellersburg, Ind.-Jeffersonville) finished second in both of his events. Dilger finished with a 2:02.51 in the 200-yard individual medley, knocking three seconds off his previous time this season while also setting a personal best. The Sellersburg, Ill. native shed nearly a whole second off his previous personal best when he competed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, Jan. 20, 2024. Dilger also hit a new PR in the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.60) beating his previous time this season by .17 seconds. 

Freshman Jacob Nacional (Bolingbrook, Ill.-Bolingbrook) found a second and third place finish in the meet competing in the 100-yard butterfly (54.75), shaving two seconds off his previous personal best from the season, and the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.99). 

Freshmen Tate Thomas (Joliet, Ill.-Joliet West) and Ben Huk (Des Plaines, Ill.-Maine West) both received a third place medal. Thomas entered in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:52.36, taking two second from his previous time earlier this year at the IWU Invite, Nov. 23 (1:54.77). Thomas took second in the 100-yard freestyle clocking in at 51.50. Huk participated in the 50-yard freestyle, nabbing third timing in with 24.37, while also claiming fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:04.82. 

Senior Colin McKibben (Green Oaks, Ill.-Libertyville) competed in two events taking fourth and fifth place, respectively. McKibben clocked a 24.73 in the 50-yard freestyle, and a 1:01.78 in the 100-yard breaststroke. 

McKibben, Huk, Dilger, and Nacional teamed up to take part in the 200-yard medley relay coming in third overall. The Titans clocked in a time of 1:45.33 to finish out the meet. 

Illinois Wesleyan is back on the road after its three-meet homestand and are competing against Franklin College, Feb. 1. The meet will take place at Franklin Middle School and will start at 1 p.m. ET.
