Men’s Soccer Readies for Saturday Match Against Wabash

Titans travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. for 3:30 p.m. ET start time

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After making history with the best starting record in program history, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team faces off against Wabash College, Saturday, Sept. 28. Game is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET, in Crawfordsville, Ind., on Fischer Field. 

The Green and White is going into Saturday's game with a 6-0-1 record coming off a 2-nil win over Lake Forest College this past Wednesday, Sept. 25. Sophomore Ryder Coleman (Bannockburn, Ill.-Deerfield) recorded his second brace of the season, scoring both goals of the game. The goals were assisted by fellow sophomore Matthew Perchick (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) and junior Logan Tierney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community)

This is the Titans' best start to a season in the history of the program with the closest season being in 2012 when the Titans started off its season 6-1. In the 2012 season, the Titans went 11-6, falling to Wheaton College in the conference tournament to end the season. 

Wabash is 7-2 on its season thus far with losses to Hope College (4-1) and Hanover College (1-0). 

WC has the upper hand in the all-time record against IWU where Wabash takes a 3-0-2 record over Illinois Wesleyan dating back to 1990. The most recent meeting between the two teams was Sept. 26, 2023, where the game ended in a 1-1 tie with the sole goal coming from then-junior Mush Bakirdan (Morton, Ill.-Morton) on a penalty kick in the 34th minute of the game.
