History in the Making: Men’s Soccer Defeats Lake Forest

Titans extend record to 6-0-1 for best start in program history

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team took down Lake Forest College, 2-nil, on the road Wednesday evening, Sept. 25, to extend its win streak to six and remain unbeaten on the season.

Sophomore Ryder Coleman's (Bannockburn, Ill.-Deerfield) brace and junior Sam Kedzior's (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) sixth shutout of the season helped IWU push its record to 6-0-1 on the season. Lake Forest's record dropped to 1-6-2. With the win, IWU matched its win total from each of the past three seasons. Additionally, the Green and White's six-match win streak is the second-longest in program history as well as the longest since 2018.

Sophomore Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) and Coleman continued their strong play, as the two connected for a goal 10 minutes in. Perchik delivered the assist as Coleman tallied his fifth goal of the season.

Leading 1-0 out of halftime, Illinois Wesleyan doubled its lead in the 86th minute to put an exclamation on the win. Junior Logan Tierney (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) notched the helper as Coleman completed the brace with his sixth goal of the season.

Kedzior faced 11 shots in the win and posted five saves. The Titans were outshot by the Foresters, 11-10, in the match as Kedzior and the IWU defense fended off nine LFC corners.
