Women’s Soccer Eyes Weekend Bouts with Scots, Stars

Titans to host Dominican Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team will play two games this weekend, Sept. 21-22, with one coming on the road and another inside the friendly confines of Neis Field. IWU will travel to Monmouth College Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. before hosting Dominican University Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the weekend with a 1-5 record, most recently falling at top-ranked WashU, 4-0, Tuesday night, Sept. 17. Monmouth's record stands at 2-3-2 after a 6-nil loss at Augustana Wednesday, Sept. 18. Carrying a two-game win streak into the weekend is Dominican, which holds a 2-4 mark. 

Saturday's contest will mark the eighth all-time meeting between IWU and Monmouth, with the Green and White holding a 7-0 record in the series. The Titans and Scots will meet for the first time since 2010, a season which saw the Titans cruise to a 7-0 victory at MC. Molly O'Brien scored in the fourth, 46th, and 68th minutes en route to a hat trick, while Alice Fontana added a brace on assists from O'Brien. The Green and White will also face off against Dominican for the first time since 2010, looking to improve on its 3-0 series lead. Illinois Wesleyan came away with a 3-0 triumph in the last clash.
