Box Score
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team was downed, 1-nil, by Trine University in its home opener Sunday, Aug. 31. With the loss, IWU dips to 0-2, while Trine moves to 1-1.

The match was fairly even, with the Titans tallying 17 shots to the Thunder's 18. Each team put six shots on target and garnered four corners. Freshman goalie Grace Kiewiet (Leawood, Kan. Notre Dame de Sion) recorded all 90 minutes in goal and secured five saves on the day.

Trine found its sole goal in the 17th minute as the Thunder's Bella Mabry sent a long shot to the opposite corner of the net just outside the reach of Kiewiet.

The Titans' best opportunity to level the score was in the second half as senior Tegan Timerman (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) attempted a cross pass to a waiting freshman Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind.-Home School) in the box, but the post-hugging shot was snagged by the Thunder keeper to keep IWU scoreless.

IWU heads to River Forest, Ill. next weekend for the Midwest Tournament hosted by Dominican University. The Titans will take on Wartburg Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1:30 p.m. before battling No. 7 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Sunday at 12 p.m.
