Gonzales Joins CSC Executive Board of Directors

Will serve one-year stint as the College Division Representative

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The College Sports Communicators Executive Board of Directors announced the addition of Illinois Wesleyan University's Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications Katie Gonzales as the 2024-25 College Division Representative, Friday, July 26. 

The CSC finalized its 2024-25 Board of Directors in a special meeting, Thursday, July 25 meeting its need to fill one open position due to a previous member stepping down following a job change. Gonzales, who is also the second vice president of the CSC Division III Cabinet, will serve in the role for one year and will be able to run for a full Executive Board term in a future annual general nomination and selection period. 

Her appointment to the organization's Executive Board of Directors comes after Gonzales was named a Rising Star award winner and received the President's Award for excellence within her role as the chair of the Academic All-America Core Committee. Both honors were recognized at the CSC annual convention in Las Vegas in June. She was also named a National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) Emerging Leader Award winner last fall. 

Earlier this week, it was announced that Gonzales has earned two nods towards the D3SIDA Region 4 Communicator(s) of the Year award as she is nominated as an individual in addition to the the entire IWU Athletic Communications staff's nomination. 

Gonzales, who enters her sixth year at Illinois Wesleyan, continues to showcase her passion for collegiate athletics with her involvement in various committees and organizations. Gonzales also serves on CSC's Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is a member of the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators, Minority Opportunities Athletic Association, Women Leaders in College Sports and serves as Illinois Wesleyan's Athletics Diversity & Inclusion Designee.
